A symbol of modern communication contrasted with a neglected reminder, reflecting progress that does not reach everyone equally.

The BT Tower stands as a symbol of modern communication, technological progress, and national infrastructure. As a landmark of Britain’s digital development, it represents connectivity, speed, and innovation, suggesting a city that is constantly moving forward. Photographing the tower allowed me to reference how progress is often showcased through dominant, well-maintained structures in central London.

Elsewhere, a run-down red phone box remains as a reminder of past public communication. Once a symbol of accessibility and shared use, its deteriorated condition reflects how certain communities and services are left behind as the city modernises. Placing these two images together highlights how progress in London is unevenly distributed, benefiting some areas while others are forgotten or left to decay.
