Political Power and financial influence monitor over everyday living, portraying the imbalance between decision - makers and those who are affected by their choices.

This diptych was created to highlight the physical and symbolic distance between those who hold power and those who live with its consequences. The Houses of Parliament and Big Ben are internationally recognised symbols of political authority and tradition, representing the centre of decision-making in the UK. Photographing this location allowed me to reference how policies are formed within spaces that often feel detached from the realities of everyday life experienced by many Londoners.

In contrast, the image of a low-income apartment building in East London, set against the distant Canary Wharf skyline, represents the lived experience of communities affected by those decisions. The proximity of global finance and political power to housing insecurity and economic struggle is striking, yet frequently normalised in London’s landscape. By placing these images together, I wanted to show how inequality is not accidental or hidden, but built directly into the city’s structure.
